Potassium hydroxide walnuts ( potash walnuts) has excellent capacities of water absorption which make possible to reach remarkable performances of drying.
The alkaline properties of potassium hydroxide walnuts (caustic potash walnuts) give the possibility to eliminate simultaneously water and the acid compounds such as H2S, HCl, HF ... This properties are very usefull specially for drying and sweetening propane and butane as in HF alkylation
Thanks to the shape of walnut the bed remains homogenous as the briquettes are consumed, so the height of the bed is decreasing progressively. It keeps the uniform fluid flow through a desiccant bed. Walnut shape also reduces channelling and bridging in towers.
Compare to sodium hydroxide , brine of caustic potash cristalise at very low temperature.
